BBL® is highly effective at treating sun damage, age spots, freckles, rosacea, visible blood vessels (broken capillaries), acne, and overall dullness or uneven skin texture.
BBL® uses high-intensity pulses of broad-spectrum light that safely penetrate the skin. The light energy is absorbed by excess melanin (pigment) and hemoglobin (blood vessels), which causes them to break down and naturally shed or be absorbed by the body. The gentle heating of the deeper tissue also stimulates natural collagen production to improve skin firmness over time.
While you will likely see improvement after a single session, most patients achieve optimal results with a series of 3 to 5 treatments spaced a few weeks apart. We also recommend maintenance treatments 1 to 2 times a year to keep your skin looking youthful, clear, and vibrant.
Most patients tolerate BBL® very well. You may feel a quick, warm sensation or a mild snap – often compared to a rubber band gently snapping against the skin – as the light pulses are delivered. The advanced cooling feature on the device ensures your skin remains comfortable throughout the process.
There is minimal to no downtime. Your skin may appear slightly red or feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn, for a few hours. Over the next 7 to 14 days, you may notice pigmented spots darkening (often called “coffee-grounding”) before they naturally flake off, revealing fresh, even skin underneath.
Your visit begins with a personalized consultation where we assess your skin and discuss your goals to ensure BBL® is the right fit. Before the treatment begins, we will cleanse the area and provide you with protective eyewear. A cooling gel is applied to the skin, and the BBL® handpiece is gently passed over the treatment area, delivering quick pulses of light. The procedure typically takes about 30 minutes. Once complete, you can immediately reapply makeup and resume your daily activities, taking care to avoid direct sun exposure and wear SPF.
